Chlamydia trachomatis PCR Test

Chlamydia trachomatis are gram-negative, non-motile bacteria and a causative agent for cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and Non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU). Chlamydia trachomatis PCR test offered by our lab is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test on Roche Cobas Amplicor. It uses the polymerase Chain reaction nucleic acid amplification technique and nucleic acid hybridization for the detection of C. trachomatis in urogenital specimen. This method can detect one IFU of C. trachomatis per PCR reaction and shows no cross- reactivity with Chlamydia pneumonae and Chlamydia psittaci.
